What Are The Best Hot Tents Of 2023?
Here are the best hot tents of 2023, ranked from highest to lowest in terms of intended use and versatility.
1. One Tigris Rock Fortress Hot Tent (4-6 Person)
Best Overall Valued Hot Tent
The One Tigris Rock Fortress Hot Tent is the best overall valued hot tent of 2023 and is the one I recently took up to Northern Minnesota for a solo bushcraft/wilderness trip.
This tent is made from 70D coated nylon fabric with a 3000mm waterproof rating. Although this isn’t as bulletproof as a canvas tent material, it still provides excellent durability for the lighter weight, allowing you to travel with it easily.
It has versatile features like the snow skirt (An important feature for me) for heat retention functionality/to keep warm in cold weather as well as the obvious port for the wood-burning stove.
With its large capacity and premium materials, it’s perfect for hot tent family camping trips, hunting trips, ice fishing, bushcraft, and any winter northern backcountry travel. Also, it is small enough to be used as a solo camp- which is primarily what I use it for.
I pack this tent (with a stove) into a pulk sled.
The complete setup kit includes a tent pole, stove jack, 24 tent pegs, and 10 guy lines.
In my opinion, this is truly one of the best-valued tents that are made with high-quality materials especially when paired with their stainless steel stove.
Why?
It is a mixture of durability, affordability, functionality, and packability. With this tent excelling in these areas, I had to put it as my all-time favorite hot tent with stove jack.
However, if price and weight are not an issue for you, I would stick to a canvas hot tent listed below.
Key Features:
- The 6-Person roomy design allows for a spacious interior and standing up
- 70D coated nylon fabric with a 3000mm waterproof rating (Durable, yet lightweight)
- Teepee tent style with a stove jack
- Affordable compared to canvas tents
- Two opening doors allow for proper air circulation
- 9.2 Ibs
- Stove Jack
Cons:
- The tent floor is not included
Pricing:
Here are the pricing options for a whole setup below.
2. One Tigris North Gaze (2-4 Person)
Best Light Weight Hot Tent
2023’s One Tigris North Gaze Hot Tent packs a punch of warmth and comfort into an exceptionally lightweight design, making it the perfect companion for an adventure where weight savings are a priority.
It features a 40D nylon construction that is lightweight, dirt/water/abrasion resistant, and has a 3000mm waterproof rating.
Weighing only 5.3 lbs, this tent is packable, yet also spacious enough for 2-4 campers, and includes a stove jack as well. The 40 denier isn’t going to be super heavy-duty, however, it does provide a good balance between weight, packability, and durability.
This lightweight tent is excellent for winter camping and is really similar to my favorite (Rock Fortress) hot tent.
The primary distinctions between these two models are the absence of snow flaps, a slightly more compact design, and thinner fabric material in this version.
Key Features:
- Lightweight at 5.3lb not including one of the tent stoves, for an ultralight hot tent combo, check out the best hot tent for backpacking below.
- 2-4 Person Design (Up to four people without the tent stove)
- Teepee tent style with a stove jack.
- Affordable.
- Two air vents for proper air circulation.
- Stove Jack Included
Cons:
- Thinner material might not be as durable for heavy use (40 Denier fabric).
- No tent floor is included.
Pricing:
Here are the pricing options for a whole setup below.
- Hot Tent
- Half Inner Tent
- Wood Stove
3. Pomoly Manta Hot Tent (4-6 Person)
Best Hot Tent That Includes An Inner Tent
The Pomoly Manta Hot Tent is a great choice for camping, providing up to six people with warmth and comfort.
It features a 300D Oxford cloth construction with a waterproof coating, making it both durable and secure. The tent (of course) has a stove jack for using a wood-burning stove inside for warmth and cooking.
Additionally, the tent is equipped with two doors for simple access and egress, along with a functional skirt to keep out drafts.
Maximize your privacy with the included half-inner tent and a separate sleeping area lined by breathable black mesh. This is one of the great added features of the tent. The removable inner tent makes hot tents more bearable in the buggy, warm weather.
This is a great added feature that makes the slightly higher price more bearable.
Key Features:
- 300D Oxford fabric construction
- Fireproof stove jack included.
- The movable top cap for air circulation
- Practical tent skirt to keep out cold air
- Two doors for easy entrance/exit
- Half inner tent for the sleeping area is included
Cons:
- This tent is heavier than other hot tents (just over 13 lbs).
- Oxford cloth is still not as great as canvas tents.
Pricing:
4. Esker Arctic Fox Winter Camping Hot Tent (2-3 Person)
Most Durable Hot Tent
The Esker Arctic Fox 9’x9′ Winter Camping Tent is a lightweight, portable hot tent that provides warmth and comfort for up to three people or two people with a stove.
Constructed of cotton canvas, this hot tent is incomparably tougher than any nylon option and provides unrivaled durability.
Enjoy maximum airflow control with the adjustable air vent and two-way zippered opening, as well as an added convenience for drying your clothes thanks to sewn loops that enable the use of a clothesline.
What’s even more remarkable is its lightweight construction and portability given the durability and use of cotton canvas; it weighs little over thirteen pounds and can be hauled in on a pulk sled or canoe pack if needed.
Not quite as portable as other tents on the list, but still pretty impressive given the space and durability of the tent.
Also, this tent is made directly in Canada, so you know they are using some of the best materials and practices.
Whether you are embarking on a long winter camping trip or an intrepid expedition in extreme cold weather conditions, the Arctic Fox is the perfect tent when durability is essential.
Key Features:
- 10-ounce cotton canvas tent wall construction for superior durability & weather protection.
- 2-way zippered opening & adjustable air vent for best airflow control.
- Sewn loops for use of a drying line.
- Lightweight (13lb) and portable design.
- Made in Canada.
- Heat-resistant fabric.
- Best for cold weather camping
- Stove Jack Included.
Cons:
- Much more expensive than other hot tents on the market.
- Heavier option, so not best for lightweight trips.
- Does not come with a center pole. You need to make one off the landscape. (Cool but not always practical.)
- Setting up will take some practice.
Pricing:
5. Cimarron Hot Tent Bundle (2-4 Person)
Best Backpacking Hot Tent
The Cimarron is an ultralight 4-person pyramid-style tent perfect for backpacking trips. It offers more space than a regular backpacking tent, making it more comfortable for two people when using a stove.
This hot tent is a rarity, as it can realistically be used for backpacking trips given that with a stove included it only weighs just over 6 Ibs.
None of the options on this list are better suited for backpacking.
Crafted with superior fabrics and materials by certified experts in Grand Junction, Colorado; this tent is expertly constructed to provide long-lasting quality that comes complete with an outstanding warranty.
Besides all of these features, this tent with a stove jack also comes with ultralight tent stoves.
Key Features:
- Ultralight 4-person pyramid-style tent.
- Weighs just over 6 Ibs including the stove
- Has added optional features
- Dual side entrance design.
- Made from high-quality light fabrics and materials.
- Handmade in the U.S.A. (Grand Junction, Colorado).
- Outstanding warranty.
- Comes with a wood hot stove and stove jack.
Cons:
- More expensive than other backpacking tents.
- Not the best hot tent for very cold climates.
- Fabric isn’t as heavy-duty as others on the list.
- Smaller tent than others
Pricing:
- Hot tent with stove and liner (Bundle)
6. RBM Outdoors Hot Tent (5 Person)
The Russian Bear hot tent is a superior, year-round tent that provides comfort in both sweltering summer days and icy winter nights- in fact, they recorded the inside of the tent at 82 degrees Fahrenheit when it was -22 degrees Fahrenheit outside.
Pretty cool if you ask me!
The wood stove maintains a pleasant interior temperature even if it is extremely cold outside. The tent is made from high-quality materials and is designed to be fire safe since it actually has fabric rated to 1200 degrees.
It is a great tent for larger groups and offers plenty of space for up to 5 people. However, this tent with a stove is not going to be anything that you will carry for a casual trip as it weighs over 55 Ibs.
This is one of those tents for winter camping that you set up and leave up all season long.
Key Features:
- 5-person umbrella tent.
- Weighs over 55 Ibs.
- Comes with a tent stove, removable floor, and stove jack.
- Made from fire-resistant materials.
- Heavy-duty materials.
Cons:
- Expensive and heavy as heck.
- Not used for travel on foot.
Pricing:
- Hot tent
7. Stovehut 70 Hot Tent (2-Person)
Most Unique Hot Tent With Stove Jack
The Stovehut 70 Hot Tent is one of the more unique and innovative winter tents, perfect for people interested in bushcraft or winter/year-round camping in general.
When the weather takes a turn for the worse, you can trust this two-person tent to keep you comfortable as it is really well-built.
Because of its 70D fabric with PU 2500mm waterproof rating, it offers pretty good protection in tough conditions while still remaining packable.
One of the worries, however, is that tents can become too over-designed. On this tent, there are many zippers and things that can break. The hinged door is awesome, but not exactly necessary in my honest opinion.
Setting up the Stove Hut 70 is a little unique and will certainly take some getting used to. But after you master setting it up, it is incredibly adjustable as you can open nearly any side of the tent.
Key Features:
- 70D fabric with PU 2500mm waterproof rating.
- 2-person tent.
- Unique and innovative winter tent design.
- Adjustable – you can open nearly any side of the tent.
- Comes with aluminum poles for setup and a stove jack.
- Weighs over 6 Ibs.
- Tent walls have waterproof sealing
Cons:
- Fabric can get dangerously close to the stove pipe if not set up properly so a larger stove would be riskier.
- Smaller tent than others and you can’t stand up.
- Setup takes a bit of getting used to.
Pricing:
- Hot tent
8. Snowtrekker Canvas Tents (1-5 Person)
Most Traditional Hot Tents
The Snowtrekker canvas hot tents come from a small, family-owned and operated business out of Wisconsin. They have been making these tents for over 30 years and each tent is hand-crafted with the utmost attention to detail using only the finest materials available.
I call these traditional canvas hot tents because they are crafted using traditional cotton material and have been around for a pretty long time in comparison to other hot tent companies.
The snowtrekker tents have consistently been a favorite for those extremely cold temperatures, and have been used (and enjoyed) by many notable outdoor influencers.
These include folks like Dave and Amy Freeman, Joe Robinet, and more.
Also, for many trips in the great white northern USA, outfitters like Piragis rent out the snowtrekker hot tents.
Key Features:
- Made in USA
- Treated with flame retardancy to CPAI-84 standards
- 7-ounce heavy-duty fabric
- Innovative designs
- Small, family-owned business
- Used by many guides and outfitters
Cons:
- Limited availability to order
Pricing:
- The price varies depending on the model.
9. Whiteduck Regatta Canvas Bell Tent (4-10 Person)
Best Luxury Glamping Canvas Hot Tent
Sometimes, all we want is a tent that can provide a lot of fun for a long time. This hot tent is exactly that.
The Whiteduck Regatta Canvas Bell Tent is one of the best luxury canvas hot tents for glamping. It features a heavy-duty, waterproof, fire-retardant 8.5oz Army duck cotton canvas and comes with three windows that provide great ventilation and privacy.
Aside from the stove, it is really a one in all package as it also has a sewn-in ground floor as well as mesh on the door.
This is certainly not something you’d want to carry on a solo expedition in the wilderness, but if you want something that your whole family can enjoy, this is it, and many people will tell you that.
Another great feature about the Whiteduck Hot tents is that they come in a variety of sizes allowing up to 10 people to hang out and sleep in the tent at once. Personally, I think it sounds awful to be in a tent with 10 other people but I wouldn’t judge…ha!
Key Features:
- 8.5oz Heavy Duty Cotton Canvas Fabric.
- More Than 4 Sizing Options.
- Big Enough For Up To 10 People (In Largest Size).
Cons:
- None!

How To Stay Safe While Hot Tenting
Although camping in a hot tent is fun, it’s important to ensure you stay safe while doing it. Here are some tips for hot tenting safely:
Avoid Smoke And Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
When hot tenting, to stay safe from smoke and carbon monoxide poisoning, it is imperative to take fire safety measures.
Smoke and carbon monoxide can be stealthy and deadly, so it is best to take the necessary steps to stay safe. Sleepiness, slurred speech, and a red face are a few symptoms.
Don’t Fall Asleep With The Wood Stoves Burning.
Resist the urge to go to sleep with your stove still turned on
I know you will want to because I do too.
But I don’t.
You don’t want any material getting stuck in the pipe and accidentally causing a blockage- leading to dangerous gas buildup.
Ventilate Your Hot Tents.
First, you should make sure that your hot tent has proper ventilation. For the utmost safety, be sure to choose a spot for your hot tent that is well-ventilated with plenty of airflow.
Carry A Portable Carbon Monoxide Detector.
Another simple and safe added level of security would be to carry a portable detector like this one to alert you of any dangerous levels of gasses.
Don’t Place A Ground Sheet Under The Stove.
Make sure that if you are using a ground sheet underneath your stove, it is an actual rated fire mat. If you don’t do this, it can lead to a melted floor or even catch on fire.
Have a fire extinguisher (water) ready if need be.
Don’t Leave The Stove Going Unattended.
Never leave a fire unattended. There are many stories of people leaving their hot tents only to come back to them burnt down.
Just remember, if you are going to go hot tent camping and decide to burn wood inside your rain fly, that heat source CAN cause a fire.
So treat it with respect. (:
Avoid Flammable Materials Around The Wood Burning Stove.
Avoid using flammable materials near the stove like any of the MSR liquid fuel stoves. The last thing we need is for an ember from the fire to cause an explosion.
Don’t Rely On The Tent For Keeping Warm.
These hot tents for winter camping can be an excellent addition to your camping gear for providing protection and comfort from cold weather conditions, but they should not be relied upon as the sole source of warmth.
Pack clothes that will be warm enough for whatever winter conditions you might encounter.
Invest In A Winter Rated Sleeping Bag.
Invest in a proper winter-rated sleeping bag as this is your primary emergency insulator in winter environments.
Summary: Choosing The Best Hot Tent
Hot tents are becoming increasingly popular for camping, as they offer an unbeatable level of warmth and comfort.
The sheer pleasure of hot tents while camping in a chilly northern forest cannot be overstated.
Hot tents can vary greatly based on the purpose of your purchase, so it is critical to consider what you need before investing in one.
Tents come with different fabric types, two stove jacks (sometimes), different designs, sizes weights, and much more. When making a choice, bear this in mind and discover the best tent for your requirements.
I hope this article helps you make an informed decision when choosing between the best hot tents of 2023.
